Jwaneng, Botswana – Cresta Marakanelo Limited (CML) has officially announced its title sponsorship of the inaugural Cresta Jwaneng Open Golf Tournament, set to take place from 6th to 8th June 2025. The tournament, hosted in collaboration with Debswana and the Jwaneng Golf Club, will become an annual event on the Botswana Golf Union calendar, bringing together professional and amateur golfers to compete for prizes and national rankings.

Designed to boost sports tourism and support local economic revitalization, the event is expected to position Jwaneng as a dynamic destination for both competitive golf and weekend getaways.

Speaking on the sponsorship announcement, CML Managing Director Mokwena Morulane highlighted the significance of the tournament in enhancing Jwaneng’s tourism and business landscape.

“As part of our “See Botswana Differently” campaign, we aim to shine a spotlight on various aspects of tourism in our beautiful country, and we believe sports tourism is one such avenue. We are proud to support an initiative that not only promotes golf but also contributes to the social and economic vibrancy of Jwaneng,” said Morulane.

“With our newly opened Cresta Grande Jwaneng hotel, we’re excited to host players and guests from across the country. The tournament will be accompanied by unique experiences such as the Braai and Camp Chair Affair and a vibrant Music Festival, designed to make this a celebration of sport and community,” he highlighted.

Mr. Godfrey Gorogodo, Chairman of the Jwaneng Golf Club, echoed the enthusiasm, noting the tournament's potential to elevate the town’s profile as a golf tourism destination.

“Our aim is to put Jwaneng on the national map as a preferred weekend golf destination,” said Gorogodo. “With the support of Cresta and Debswana, we are confident that this tournament will attract regular visitors and encourage the growth of golf culture in Jwaneng and indeed across Botswana.”
