Refurbishment work is under way at Chatters Restaurant in Harare’s Cresta Lodge, with completion and re-opening expected by early April. Glenn Stutchbury, CEO of Cresta Hotels, said the development was a follow-up to the multi-million-dollar renovation programme undertake between 2012 and 2015, which saw the revamping of all bedrooms and suites and the upgrading of all public areas, as well as the construction of a major new conferencing and banqueting hall. Another new feature of the Lodge following the exercise was a new coffee shop, Cool Beans. “This refurbishment programme was well received, and the Lodge is taking advantage of the work done to highlight its position as the leading hotel in the three- and four-star market in Harare. Now we move on to the Lodge’s restaurant, where we are undertaking extensive renovations,” he said.
Chatters will re-open in April with a new look and a new menu, and will serve as the principal dining venue for guests staying in the hotel, at the same time positioning itself as a dining venue of choice for residents of Harare, especially those people living in the eastern suburbs, who are a short drive away from the Lodge. When re-opened, it will be able to cater for up to 90 diners, utilising the indoor and terrace dining areas, the latter looking out over a lush garden. Cresta Lodge is one of five Cresta properties in Zimbabwe, the others being Cresta Jameson and Cresta Oasis and Apartments in Harare, Cresta Churchill in Bulawayo, and Cresta Sprayview in Victoria Falls. It was first opened in 1992 and is situated on park-like grounds close to the main road from Harare to the Eastern Highlands. The group also has hotel operations in Botswana and Zambia.
