A photographer’s dream, the nearby Chobe National Park has one of the largest concentrations of game in Africa, and the largest population of elephant worldwide. Aside from these magnificent mammals, keep your camera charged up and ready to capture giraffe, buffalo, sable, the indigenous puku, as well as predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah.

Bird lovers visiting Cresta Mowana Safari Resort & Spa will delight in the wealth of birdlife in and around the Chobe National Park. To catch even the smallest of these feathered creatures, be sure to bring along a decent pair of binoculars. Species to be spotted in the area include African Fish Eagles, Kingfishers, African Openbill storks, Coucals, African Spoonbills, Saddle-Billed Storks, African Skimmers, and Bee-Eaters.

Swimming Costume

A major highlight of life at Cresta Mowana Safari Resort & Spa is the sparkling blue infinity pool, which looks out over the mighty Chobe River. So make sure to pack your swimming costume or trunks, to fully utilise this fantastic facility. Ease yourself into one of the comfortable sun loungers, request a cocktail or two from the Savuti Bar, and simply go for a dip when you start feeling the heat.

During the hottest months of the year in Kasane (August – October), temperatures can reach a whopping 41°C, and average out around 37°C, so make sure to bring along a generous supply of sun cream, to prevent a nasty sunburn while you’re relaxing by the pool, or exploring the surrounding wilderness on a game drive.

Light Clothing

With average daily temperatures rarely dipping below 24°C throughout the year, Kasane is typically characterised by a consistently pleasant climate of hot days and slightly cooler nights. Pack accordingly by including a generous selection of light and airy shirts, summery dresses, and mid-length shorts. If you’re travelling between May and July, be sure to bring along a selection of light jerseys and long pants, as the early morning game drives can be a bit nippy.

Comfortable Walking Shoes

With such a wealth of game to be spotted on many a walking safari, and various natural attractions to be admired, you will be sure to do a decent amount of walking if you are truly want to experience Kasane, and the surrounding area. As such, travellers are advised to include a sturdy pair of walking shoes in their safari pack list to avoid achy feet and those pesky blisters.
