They say travel is only thing you can buy that makes you richer. The more you travel, the more you realise how much there is to discover in the world. In order to help you put together your 2018 Travel Bucket List, we’ve highlighted a few destinations that are on our radar for 2018. Where will your travel inspiration take you this year?
Head to Sri Lanka for an unforgettable experience to see elephants migrating en masse to Minneriya National Park, in an event known as The Gathering. Hundreds of elephants make the journey to an ancient reservoir between May and October. The best way to experience this is on a jeep tour with a knowledgeable guide.
September to mid-April is the best time to see the show. Until 2019, frequent activity and intense light displays are still going to be common while we’re in the Solar Maximum stage.
Botswana’s incredible game reserves are second to none for their sheer numbers and variety of wildlife. The Okavango Delta is a must, as well as Chobe National Park and the Kgalagadi Salt Pans. A Botswana safari also ties in well with a trip to Cape Town or Victoria Falls.
Once a forbidden destination only spotted in the distance on a Caribbean cruise, Cuba is now officially open for business and offering incredible experiences in 2018. Walking around Havana is like stepping back in time – we recommend hiring a driver for a spin in a candy-coloured 1950s automobile.
Kyoto was the imperial capital of Japan for more than 1000 years and a remarkable travel destination packed with ancient temples, centuries-old craftsmanship and tradition. In stark contrast to the futuristic capital in Tokyo, Kyoto has a slow rhythm of life and is beautiful to visit especially in spring, autumn and winter.
One of the hottest travel tickets of 2018. The Olympic Games take place from 9-25 February with 3000 athletes from almost 100 countries.
Victoria Falls is a burgeoning travel destination set to soar to new heights in 2018. Mosi-oa-Tunya, as it is known traditionally or “The Smoke That Thunders” is best visited from February to May, right after the rainy season to see the waterfall at full volume. Lower water levels in the dry period – June to October – offer panoramic views of the Falls, more activities and the best game viewing nearby.
